The Voice

the voice

There once was a boy who grew up alone. He played on the playground with snow all around, but when he played, he played alone. Until one night, he was safe in his bed. Resting in his thoughts and close to sleep, he heard a voice repeat, “ya lyublyu tebya. ya lyublyu tebya,  ya lyublyu tebya.” And every night from this time forward he heard the voice of this kind being. Then one day two lovely people came, and chose him to love and have as a son forever and all eternity.

As the years went past, he learned many things and changed in various ways. He felt grass for the first time and reveled in the feeling, he was able to try chocolate, and learn a new language. Slowly the voice came at farther increments of time. As he lie crying at night he would hear it once more “I love you. I love you. I love you.” As he grew older he would tell his mother, and she assured him that she loves him more and more with every passing day.

When he went to school he didn’t have many friends but when he told them about this they all laughed. He felt alone once more and went home crying every day because they accused him having an imaginary friend. They asked him why anyone would love him, he was adopted after all. However, he was loved the voice had told him so, and so did his mother when she would hold him after he came home from school.

In high school nothing changed. At church he felt out of place, and anger began to stir deep within his being. One particular night he was all alone when he heard it. The voice softly whispered in his ear, “I love you. I love you. I love you.” he hid his face in a pillow trying to block out the sound, and screaming for the voice to go away. The boy began to scream and curse the voice when suddenly he felt an emptiness. He had never felt so unloved.

He turned to many things to find this love once more. He went to the dark and felt accepted, but his soul felt wrong. He went to the light and found a savior. After accepting God’s love, off to college he went waving goodbye to his family that loved him so.

At college, he found his misfit people and found a home within. He found a lady who he loved, but she loved another. Anger once again rising in his soul, he withdrew from the social scene. He often thought of this voice and who the owner was, but it left him. Like they all left him. One night he was left crying and alone, hiding from all others, and he heard it again. “I love you. I love you. I love you.” excitement and fear welled up inside of him as he tried to communicate with this voice. Consistently asking who it was, what they wanted, and why they love and unlovable soul such as him.

As graduation came closer he tried and failed when it came to love. He had his family, but a missing piece, and that is where she walks in, broken and confused just as he was. They danced around affection but settled for friendship. After many changes and experiences, they were closer. He began to share his brokenness when he felt unloved, and she did her best to pick him up again. He expressed his concern, but fell harder and faster than ever before. However, he was afraid and tired of hurting. They grew closer, and after gathering all of his courage they took a walk in the woods and he told her that he loved her.

The time after graduation turned into a roller coaster. He grew ever closer with her and shared things he had never dreamt of sharing. One night while lying on the couch talking about life, he asks her if she had ever heard voices before. She looks at him and he sees the love in her eyes when she inquires to know more. He tells her of the voice that he had heard all growing up. She smiles once more, but with tears in her eyes. She continues to explain just how happy she is for that voice. Because that voice, whatever it was, whoever it was, loved him when it seemed no one else did. She finishes to say. “I love you. I love you, and I will love you until the end of time.”

There once was a boy who grew up alone, but he was loved beyond all measure. He was given a family, wonderful friends, and things that could have never happened if he had stayed. He was given all the things that I could not provide for him that I could not secure for him. You see,  I got lost in my own world, and lost him. I realize now that it was for the best, for he is loved with far greater love than I could ever give. Although I am not needed I will always be there to remind you that I love you. I love you. I love you.
